Danube River Cruise
Oct. 30 - Nov. 6, 2022
AmaWaterways - AmaLea
Vilshofen to Budapest

After the incredible response to our first ever 100% dedicated gluten-free cruise along the beautiful Danube River, we’ve added a second sailing! On this all-inclusive adventure, you’ll never have to ask your server “is this safe?” as every item aboard the ship will be completely gluten-free, featuring many different culinary experiences!

Your 7-night all-inclusive experience includes:

  • Luxury accommodations onboard the AmaLea
  • Complimentary internet access while onboard
  • Food and select alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages onboard
  • Castles, museums, and bike tours through ports of call
  • Immersive tours into the rich history of Europe
  • Gluten-free food tastings & pairings
  • Gluten-free Oktoberfest party with live music, beer, & soft pretzels
  • Educational opportunities with medical and community leaders
  • Excursions in each port of call for all activity levels

Your adventure begins with an authentic Oktoberfest party in Vilshofen, Germany, complete with gluten-free beer and pretzels! After an overnight in port, enjoy an afternoon sail down the Danube River to Passau, where the ship will spend the evening. Here you can take part in one of three different tours to fully immerse yourself in the rich, local culture. Early the next morning, you’ll wake up in Linz, Austria, the home of Mozart and the famed “Cultural Mile”. Here you may choose to take a full day excursion to Salzburg where we hear the hills are alive with the sound of music. The ship sets sail early the next morning, cruising past Durnstein in the afternoon before docking in Weissenkirchen. Famous for their wines and apricot brandy, this quaint town of just 1500 people is sure to be just as charming as any prince. Late into the evening, the AmaLea will set sail for Vienna, arriving early the next morning for a full 24 hours in this port. Here you can truly experience the arts, music, and culture that Europe has to offer – you may even take in an optional Viennese concert, and you’ll definitely want to enjoy one of the most famous desserts to come from Vienna, the Sacher Torte, made gluten-free, of course! Your next day takes you to Bratislava, Slovakia, the “Coronation City of Kings”, where you can take a hike up to the picturesque Bratislava Castle or a historical walking tour of the city center. Last, but certainly not least, you’ll set sail for Budapest, Hungary. This city, appropriately named the “Queen of the Danube” is divided into two parts – the “Buda” and “Pest” sides, and the ship will move halfway through the day to allow you to experience both, before spending the night in port. The following morning, we’ll all sing “so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye” as we bid you adieu, until next time, of course!
